In our recent sermon from the Vision series, we’ve been focusing on how we, as a church, can live out God's love in every part of our lives. Today, I want to dive into what it really means to share God's love, inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:17-20.
The Bible tells us we are new creations in Christ, and because of this, we’re called to be His ambassadors. That's a huge responsibility, but it’s also such an incredible privilege. We get to be part of God’s plan to reconcile people to Him. So, how do we make that real in our everyday lives?
Let’s start by looking at what it means to share God's love. It’s more than a feeling or a nice sentiment—it’s active. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians that through Christ, we’ve been reconciled to God. That’s a fancy way of saying He fixed what was broken between us and Him. Now, we have the joy of helping others experience that same restoration.
But it’s not just a big, sweeping call to go out and do great things; it’s as simple as being present where you are—at work, at the store, or even during your everyday routines. We’re all called to share the love of Jesus wherever we go. Matthew 28 tells us to go and make disciples, but that doesn’t mean you need to book a flight for a mission trip tomorrow (unless God’s calling you there!). It means being intentional about showing His love in the small moments of life.
As ambassadors for Christ, it’s our job to share His message, not just in words, but through our actions. At Heritage Church, we talk a lot about discovering and deepening faith, but this isn't just a Sunday-morning idea. It’s something we need to live out, day by day. When we serve, when we show love, when we extend forgiveness—those are the moments we act as His ambassadors.
But let’s be honest—it’s easy to get comfortable, right? We all love the familiarity of church, the programs, and the people. But Jesus doesn’t call us to stay comfortable. If we’re just going through the motions, we’re missing the point. We’ve been given so much—grace, forgiveness, gifts—and God expects us to take action.
What if we all took our role as ambassadors seriously? What if we each found one way to share God’s love this week? It could be something small—like listening to a friend, offering a kind word, or serving in one of our ministries here at Heritage. But those small acts have a huge impact when done for God's glory.
Let’s not let complacency hold us back. Let’s take ownership of our faith and our role in God’s plan. We, as a church, are discovering and deepening our faith together. But more than that, we are actively part of God’s mission to spread His love to those around us.
Challenge for the Week: Find one way to share the love of God that’s been poured into you. Maybe it’s through serving at church, maybe it’s at home or at work. Whatever it is, be intentional. Take the love you’ve received and pass it on to someone else.
Here are a couple of questions to reflect on:
1. Who in your life needs to see God’s love through you this week?
2. What’s one thing you can do—big or small—that could help someone experience the love and grace of Jesus?
As we move forward, let’s remember that we are ambassadors of Christ, and that’s a role we’re called to live out every day. God has given us the privilege of being part of His mission. Let’s step up and share His love—because the world needs it now more than ever.
Let’s go do this together.
